Today, I listened to some great presentations at the Mcommerce Summit. Joy Liuzzo, President, Wave Collapse, talked about how the Demanding Mobile Shopper is changing the Face of Retail. She had some pretty convincing research based on surveying 1000 people. Here are some takeaways:
– Mobile website access is growing against standard online shopping
– Age range that shopped the most on mobile websites – 25 -44
– Top 3 items that folks are less likely to purchase online:
– Financial Products
– Insurance
– Groceries
– Companies that provide services do not necessarily see a direct correlation of product acquisition, however, mobile apps should be used as away to tie things together and make the overall user experience more pleasant.
I also heard from Alon Brands: How the Nation’s Largest Licensee of 7-Eleven Stores boosted Customer Engagement and Redemption rates with Mobile. They talked about leverage SMs campaigns initiative with a combination of various media such Text-To-Win campaigns through radio and print material. They grew their participant database by 1200 percent!
Alex Kirmse, head of mobile for Zappos talked about how Mobile commerce is no longer a retail outlier. He said Zappos is very much focused in client service and client satisfaction and Noticed that loyal customers were most likely to download mobile apps. He said that mobile is not only a good way to gather feedback but also a way to drive customer satisfaction—something here at ProTexting that we have been working on, which is one reason why we are now offering a free 7-Day trial. It’s all about user experience and customer satisfaction! –SH
