According to the Sloan Foundation reports, there has been an increase of around 12โ14 percent per year on average in enrollments for fully online learning over the five years 2004โ2009 in the US post-secondary system, compared with an average of approximately 2 per cent increase per year in enrollments overall. A report by Ambient Insight Research suggests that in 2009, 44 percent of post-secondary students in the USA were taking some or all of their courses online and there have been projections that this figure would rise to 81 percent by 2014.ย Online learning may be the fastest growing trend and emerge to be the primary form of f post-secondary education, in the USA, if not the world.
I thought this was an interesting development because I began to envision all sort of ways that online education could utilize mobile marketing, ranging from a way to stay in touch with students, changing courses, times and availabilities, grade postings, assignment alerts.ย The possibilities are endless.ย It all boils down to the end user and how they want to be notified about their online learning community. What is important to them? How often do they want to receive alerts?ย So please give us some new ways of thinking about what we do and how we can serve the online learning community.ย We are always happy to hear from our readers and our clients !!ย –KK
